£745.00
sold out

A beautifully crafted antique stacking cabinet by Globe Wernicke, dated c1900.

Made from solid oak, it comprises four glazed compartments, each designed to be stacked on top of one another. The original maker’s mark can be seen in each section.

Globe Wernicke was first established in 1899 and subsequently became renowned throughout North America and Europe for its iconic ‘elastic’ barrister’s bookcase. Many similar stacking shelf units are based on its design.

In very good condition for its age, there are a few age-related marks on the wood and glass (see photos). It has been carefully stripped and refinished to bring out the gorgeous patterns of the quartered oak.
